The Church is nothing without Jesus.
The disciples witnessed Jesus ascending into heaven, and as they gazed upward, two angels interrupted them. They asked the gathered men and women why they were still looking up, reminding them that Jesus would return in the same way he had ascended.
As they made their way home, their hearts filled with expectation and wonder. What would happen next would change the world.
The Book of Acts chronicles the extraordinary beginnings of the Church and how Jesus calls them to be His witness.
Between the Ascension to the Second Coming, the church remains on earth as an outpost of heaven. Despite persecution, hardship, and conflict, the early church serves as a model of Spirit-empowered unity and bold gospel proclamation.
Reflecting on the early church inspires us today. Just as Jesus crafted the early church, he continues to craft us now for his glory and the advancement of his Gospel.
