Our earthly relationships reflect Jesus and the church.

The Book of Ephesians was written by the Apostle Paul to a local church in Ephesus. It’s divided into two sections: The Saving Work of Jesus (Chapters 1-3) and The Saving Work of Jesus Applied (Chapters 4-6). The grace of Jesus not only saves us, but it changes our lives wholistically.

After discussing the new life we have in Christ through the vertical relationship we have with God, Paul moves on to how the gospel changes our horizontal relationships here on earth.

The gospel changes our marriages by helping us see the love of Christ towards his bride and her joyful submission to his love.

The gospel changes our parenting by displaying the good authority of God over his children and how obedience to parents is how every Christian is to live.

The gospel changes our work by reminding us that everything we do is for the glory of God and we work as if we are working directing for the Lord.

Redeeming Parenting

Ephesians 6:1-4

Parenting in God’s design is to teach children how to submit to authority in obedience and out of love. It is intended to be a child’s first glimpse of the love and authority of the God who created them.

Redeeming Marriage

Ephesians 5:22-33

Marriage is a good gift from the Lord between one husband and one wife for life. In God’s good design, He intends for the husband and wife to reflect the gospel. The relationship between a husband and wife is a beautiful picture of the relationship between Jesus and His bride.
